February, 2014: Road Trip to St. Petersburg, Florida

Mike, Amandine and Dena head to St. Petersburg, FL to meet with our new friends and partners: The University of South Florida College of Marine Sciences, the St. Petersburg Science Festival, Girls Inc Pinellas County and Keep Pinellas Beautiful. We develop a few more partners along the way, thanks to the Science Festival: The Dalí Museum and a local arts supporter. It’s a wonderful trip. The project is well received and the excitement amongst all of us builds! The Dalí Museum provides museum space to bring community together at the end of the summer on September 13, 2014. With the community, we will assemble plastic art components that they have made into large panels for the sculpture. Among the exciting developments: We visit the grounds where the St. Petersburg Science Festival is held and decide on the location where the sculpture will be exhibited, Poynter Park. Keep Pinellas Beautiful agrees to allow us to use some of the reclaimed debris their 200+ volunteers collect on The Great American Clean Up Day, March 15, 2014. Additionally, they will be provide recycled materials through 150 teen enrolled in their Bright Futures service program. We find some inspiration…wildlife    ...
