St. Petersburg Community Makes Art for Giant Sculpture

Atlanta Artist Collective, Embodied Energy Studio, is engaging the St. Petersburg and Tampa Communities in fun educational summer workshops. Participants recycle their plastic bags, water, milk and juice bottles into works of art that will be included in the Current Collections sculpture in Poynter Park starting October 17, 2014. Upcoming workshops will be held at  the St. Petersburg Museum of Fine Art, August 2nd and 16th, 11am to 2pm and the Dalí Museum, September 13th, 10am to 12pm. East Atlanta Kids Club Makes Art for the Current Collections Sculpture

The Current Collections artists engaged 25 kids ages 10 -15 in the making of sea creatures and plastic panels. Using google maps, youth followed an urban stream in their local park to the ocean. The stream at Brownwood Park empties into the Atlantic Ocean by Sea Island. This group explored materials collected in fishing line collection bins by Tampa Bay Watch. The materials included fishing line, candy wrappers, tin foil, utensils, and a balloon.
