Today, our construction partner, Cane Construction, received our building permits. We are ready to begin installing the sculpture in the coming weeks.
The sculpture is in process with steel “whiskers” projecting outward from the top & bottom of the armature and addition of the plastic membrane to come. We are excited to bring the sculpture to St. Pete very soon! Following are images of yesterday’s excitement as we erected the sculpture for a few hours to do some welding work. Here is the underwater current patterns of an ocean gyre!
Every hour an estimated 1,100 lbs of trash moves into our waterways. Current Collections is an inquiry based, experiential public art sculpture reflecting this movement using reclaimed and recycled coastal debris. Current Collections will be the focal point of the 2014 & 2015 St. Petersburg, Florida Science Festival.
