October, 2013: The Search for Partners…the visions expands

University of South Florida College of Marine Science becomes our partner!
We are asked to participate in an education and outreach project that engages youth, locals and tourists in the beach communities on the Gulf of Mexico and Tampa Bay waterfront in Pinellas counties. It enables youth, the public and key stakeholders to “see the unseen” by giving marine debris a dramatic presence on land.
This project will start in May, 2014 and include events on World Ocean Day, International Ocean Cleanup Day in September and the Science Quest Festival in October. Community based beach & coastal water cleanup and youth art education workshops will culminate in a large scale experiential art piece titled 444lbs. per Second. Participants and viewers will make personal connections with impacts of marine debris on wildlife and fishing industry as the project offer positive actions the public can take every day.
